The store is very clean and organized. I've been coming here for a while and Jon has been great. Very personable and knowledgeable of the craft. Gives free lessons on the different aspects of the hobby which is nice, and will schedule those lessons if needed. The people here are real nice as well. Feels like a welcoming community.

I walked in around 3:15-3:30pm, I went specifically at this time because Google Maps says the hours are 3-7pm in the afternoon. As soon as I walk in the man at the register says "What do you want? I'm about to close for lunch." I told him "I'm looking for Dark Angels stuff." He says "I only have X, Y & Z." Right away making me feel like he wants me to leave, meanwhile he has time to give a kid a lecture on how to properly fold and store cash in his wallet. The kid asks "Where are we going for lunch?" and some big guy immediatly steps in front of me to block my view of whats on the shelf. I pick a few things and get in line to hear the end of Cash Sorting 101 and big guy steps in front of me and begins to complain to register guy how bad capitalism is and register guy tells him they can discuss it more at lunch. After I pay and get in my car, I notice the 3 or 4 other people in the store with register man all leave together and lock the store presumably to go have lunch and discuss how bad capitalism is while he is running a store owned by Games Workshop that is trying to turn a profit. I will not be returning to this store ever again.

I came here to get some insight on some old warhammer figurines I’d come across. Immediately after walking in with my box the older guy with a cane who was working got extremely defensive asking what’s in the box. Whatever that’s fine. However he was extremely rude when I asked him questions and made me feel extremely unwelcome in the store. If this is a hobby you are trying to get into I highly suggest steering clear of this store. This man even went as far as trying to belittle me and making awful and sarcastic remarks to me so all could hear. Very disappointed with the customer service here.

If I wasn’t making an objective and unbiased review, I’d probably give this store a 3 on a good day. It’s alright, but to be honest it’s a strange atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong, the manager has a wealth of knowledge about the game. He holds classes and stuff of that nature that pertain to the hobby (painting, how to play, list building) which is great for any new hobbyist but the atmosphere in the store has weird cult vibes sometimes. The best way to describe it is that is like what other reviewers said, you’re only allowed to talk about Warhammer (insert Fight Club joke here). Anything you do in the store has to pertain to Warhammer and nothing else but Warhammer, which kind of makes it socially awkward when you want to have a normal conversation with someone while hobbying. The inverse of that is that it creates a somewhat sterile atmosphere where there isn’t conflict (which is also good if you’re averse to conflict). This also carries onto the store’s Discord server as well. The same restrictive rules apply. Mind you this is coming from someone that visits Warhammer stores, when possible, just to scratch that itch. This store just operates differently. One unfortunate thing is that the manager has a bad habit of trying to indoctrinate folks to be in line with his own beliefs, like chastising individuals for going to The Buffalo Spot next door because he himself had an unfortunate experience there.

I’ve seen multiple instances where the manager lost his cool because an individual did something that wasn’t in line with his own personal beliefs or violated his perception of control within the store to the point that he would berate a person in a room full of adults. If people get overexcited playing a game (which is normal when you’re having fun) and get too loud, they’ll more than likely shut it down in some grandiose manner. Additionally, don’t expect to be in and out in the store either. As knowledgeable as the manager is, he has subpar time management skills. You could be a customer waiting at the cash register with items in hand and he’ll be hard focused on whatever task he is up to and won’t acknowledge you until he’s done or unless you do something to get his attention. Or despite the store schedule being up on Google, you really can’t trust the posted timeframes because the manager has an unfortunate habit of being uncommonly late or can’t open the store due to occurrences in his personal life. For the most part, it’s a bit unprofessional but I don’t know anything about the Code of Conduct for a Games Workshop employee.

This is also a store where the tables are run on an appointment system as well, which is quite unusual for a Warhammer store. At any other Warhammer or tabletop store, you can usually claim a table on a first come, first served basis but like I previously stated, the store operates differently. The appointment system isn’t bad for reserving a spot if you work a busy lifestyle but it’s not conducive if you want to play a pick-up game. Other than that, a lot of the folks that go to the store are pretty chill folks that love to display their love for the hobby, lore, etc. I’ve personally made a lot of friends in the store myself just because at the end of the day, people that love Warhammer love Warhammer.

TL;DR: The store is alright. The manager can be a bit dodgy on a bad day. If you want a quiet atmosphere to hobby and play or partake in a hobby class, I’d probably go here. It’s also the only place that sells Black Library and GW merch within the local area. If you want to play a game a bit more fast and loose without having to keep your excitement in check or hobby in comfortable chairs while being able to talk about whatever you want, I’d probably go to Tabletop Wargamers down the road. If you’re looking for a deal on Warhammer stuff, I’d go to Gamer’s Guild in Tempe because they sell Warhammer stuff at Amazon prices. It all depends on the atmosphere you want to play and hobby in and what you’re looking for as a consumer.

As a visitor from Duarte, California - I wished I lived here.
John provided the best Warhammer experience that I've ever had. He was welcoming, friendly, informative, and passionate about the hobby. As someone who's relatively new to the hobby I've never been more excited to dive deeper into the 40k universe.
I stopped in with intention of browsing and just kinda seeing what this store had to offer. My fiance and I were greeted as soon as we walked in and was offered assistance. When I kindly declined , he didn't press me or try to sell me anything but rather let me take my time to look.
After some time he walked over to just check-in and when I asked a question he answered it in a way that was easy to understand, gave great examples and was really funny. Most importantly he didn't make me feel stupid.
The list goes on and on but overall, John is passionate about the game and his store and it really shows.
Thank you John for everything, we will be back!
(side note: John was extremely kind and not creepy to my fiance and even offered her water to make sure she was comfy while patiently waiting for me to finish observing a game)

My husband is huge into Warhammer and would have loved to keep buying from this store but the manager/owner or whatever is incredibly rude. If you are trying to explain anything Warhammer to someone else in the store, you basically get told to stop. Apparently the only one who can answer questions about Warhammer related stuff is the guy working.
