Came here w/my family for my Aunts 70th b'day, party of 10. Only 4 stars on service bc our server, when 1 of our party was ready to order but bc she had to get her glasses out of her purse, he walked away. Yes, he was busy but rude non-the-less. And then after dinner, he only asked the 2 guys at our end of the table if they wanted dessert & didn't go to the other end & ask them. 1 person did want to order & vry upset that she wasn't asked. And I'm sorry but their Tiramisu is Not Tiramisu. Other than that everyone enjoyed their food a lot, tasting wines & beers was nice, too. Michel runs a vry nice restaurant w/a pretty great staff. We had a great time.

Gluten free options. They make their own sauces, so the server can tell you what you can eat. The braised beef ribs were gluten free and delicious. Rachel was very helpful and friendly.

It would have been great if it wasn’t for that one overly loud group of diners @ another table. Business was booming & every table was full. To be fair, I have dined @ The Cave 3 other times and everything was great.
Everything I have ever eaten at The Cave has been delicious. The Shrimp Scampi was excellent tonight. They have a great selection of wines.

I recently visited The Cave Restaurant and Ventura Wine Company. I hadn’t been there in years and was thinking it would only be appetizers or small plates. It was a pleasant surprise to enjoy such a quality meal and delicious wine and bubbly selection. We were in the back room a bit away from the bustle of the main area, where we could have a conversation. My friend and I shared their Prix Fixe Weekday Meal which consisted of an appetizer and dessert to share along with an entree for each. We decided to add a bottle of French bubbly. We started off with the cranberry cave salad which was so fresh and crisp. It was served on one long plate that we had to portion out ourselves. I would suggest plating it up separately for convenience to the guests. For dinner my friend had the Eggplant Parmesan and I had the Ahi Tuna. It was the best tuna I’ve ever eaten. The pieces were firm and flaky with just the right amount of crust for flavor. The eggplant was served over spaghetti and was a cheesy crisp and delight. Both dishes were mouth watering goodness! We chose a lighter dessert of fresh berries with Italian Zabaione. The perfect blend of flavors to end an amazing meal. Do not miss this gem!

Dear The Cave Owner/Management

Thank you for your response. I understand that you were not present during the call, and I appreciate your willingness to look into the matter. However, I must clarify that my review was based on my personal experience during that phone interaction, and I want to ensure that my feedback is accurately understood.

At Buzz Builders, we work with local businesses to help them increase their revenue and attract more customers, and we pride ourselves on being respectful and professional in all of our communications. In this instance, however, I felt that the phone operator’s tone was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I have reached out to many businesses in the same manner, and while not every business chooses to engage with us, I’ve always appreciated polite and professional responses—even when the answer is "no."

What I do find concerning is that my simple inquiry was met with sarcasm and, ultimately, being hung up on. I take no offense to a business choosing not to work with me, but I do believe that professionalism and courtesy should always be maintained, especially when interacting with potential customers or business partners.

That said, I am more than willing to move forward and hope that this incident can serve as an opportunity for further staff training on handling inquiries, especially those from local businesses seeking to collaborate. I do believe that a polite and constructive approach benefits everyone involved.

I wish you and your team the best in your ongoing efforts with the restaurant, and I hope future interactions with customers and business partners will reflect a tone of respect and professionalism.

Sincerely,
Isabel

Great place to have lunch or dinner and sample wonderful wines. Great selection of wine at the attached wine shop, and live music on certain nights for dinner. Nice atmosphere and highly recommended. Thank you.

So welcoming, friendly and professional, yet laid back and very knowledgeable about food and wines. Love this place. If we ever come back to California (due to government regulations on tractor-trailers, we will not be returning) definitely be dining here and bringing friends. Thank you to our server, host, and chef we had an outstanding time here. A way to taste wine on your own with unique wine dispensers that keep the bottles sealed and at the correct temperature. Just a great experience all around.

This is a lovely little place situated on the outskirts of Ventura. We have always driven by here and one day we decided to just walk right in, and we did not regret it. Service was friendly, drinks were great, and the food was excellent. They also have a nice little wine shop. The inside looks like the inside of a cave, so the atmosphere is a bit unique and rustic.
