This Sunderland City Gateway superstore has completely refurbished and redesigned its Cafe. (Take a look at the photos I've put below for a better idea. A picture paints a 1000 words and all that.) And what a brilliant job they've done of it... This is a massive store on the northern gateway to Sunderland City Centre... The staff are second to none. They do their work properly they have pride They work hard and they really do strive to help the customers. If you ask for help you get it now matter what the staff members are presently doing. You can't fault them. This Tesco is enormous as it is also used to fulfill customers online shopping orders load the vans up & set them away to deliver the ordered goods.

Great store with a huge range.
Aisles seem a nightmare to navigate lately. But the addition of the long aisles near the tills are ideal! Especially for seasonal products.
Loss of the deli still hurts and I don't think yo sushi is a good replacement.

A level 1 store rather than a ground level one is less favourable but otherwise the store was fine and spacious. Not busy at 8 pm on a saturday here. Same prices as everywhere else in the country.

I frequently shop at this Tesco location and have consistently noticed that the checkout staff are not polite or welcoming towards me, possibly because I am Asian. I have observed that they greet and treat British or other European customers with much more warmth and respect. On several occasions, the staff have been outright rude to me, which feels discriminatory. It is disheartening to experience this kind of behavior, especially when I am spending my hard-earned money just like any other customer. This blatant racism needs to be addressed, as all customers deserve to be treated equally and with respect.

Andrew and Alison are lovely from the cafe. Some of Tesco shop staff need to improve customer service, half hearted. It's over there, round there..... possibly up in the air, don't make the effort

Unable to speak to anyone in store via telephone provided on Google instead told to go and visit the store absolutely ridiculous when it’s snowing outside and you’ve got a baby you can’t just get up and go to the store 7pm at night driving 30 minutes in snow just to ask a question absolutely ridiculous and disgusting to customers

Came in on Tuesday the 30th and saw 2 cleaners standing around on their phones carrying on and talking to each other instead of doing their jobs. This was around tea time just after 6pm.
