Definitely a must if you like/ love or enjoy trains. Did the lake placid limited out of clewiston. Free water and chips if not in 1st class. But honestly the views, sounds, and pure beauty of a time that has gone by. Either way the beautiful and very comfortable rail cars that have been restored are spectacular . Car attendants are very helpful and will sit and chat if not busy. Train crew have a deep passion for what they do and yes you can sit in the open air cars if you prefer. Definitely worth every second, minute, hour

I really enjoyed the train ride to Lake Placid. Comfortable seating on the train. My kids explored the train on the way up. At Lake Placid, they had a little farmers market, restaurants, wine bar, and brewery. It was a great day. Relaxing on the train to and from Clewiston.

The Sugar Express is beautiful!!!
The train ride was relaxing, the staff very friendly and courteous. We were disappointed that very little information was given as to what we were seeing. Yes, field and field of sugar cane of course, however for the cost of hiring a fun, knowledgeable tour guide to explain the process along the way of how sugar cane is cultivated from start to finish with a little bit of history, it would've been worth the cost of $40. I guess that's what we were expecting. As for the ride as it was, unfortunately the value was not there.

What a great way to explore some history by going on one of their little train tours. They have a few different types of rides throughout the month. We did a two hour ice cream train tour. The kids loved it. The crew was very friendly. Bathroom and AC in most carts. The train was built in the 40/50s so it is not handicapped accessible. We will definitely do one of their other train tours!

One of the best excursions we have been on! The locomotive is a beauty and the passenger equipment was immaculate! They clip right along. The destination town of Lake Placid is very nice with pleasant shops and a farmer's market. Plus we got to learn a lot about sugar cane harvesting! Well worth the ticket price!

Doing it right showing the economic and ecological balance of massive farm and sustainability. The train and service was done in first class in accommodating our group of 140 people.

Great trip on a very well taken care of train and train cars. The trip was memorable. Was expecting just a little more from the meal since it was called a “dining car” but not going to take too many marks off for that. The speaker system was either too loud or not loud enough. We had a harder time hearing what the announcer was saying. The cars were much cleaner than some of the other trains that we have been on and we’ve ridden about 6-8 of these trains. Well maintained and clean. The car with the open sides was actually really nice because you could kind of feel like you were moving and to experience the sugar cane fields. Thank you.

Great day for family time and a ride on a train. Bring food and drinks will make your ride more eventful. But loved it
