Wonderful place to get away at. Rooms large and very clean. Casino had promotional events. Hit a jackpot even! Lots of slots to choose from. Customer service from staff was excellent, very accommodating. Allow even small dogs in hotel with small fee. Casino has buffet that offers lots of different choices. Great getaway.

I went for the buffet last week Saturday and wasn’t disappointed at all.
I have been coming here for the past two years and this was the best the buffet has ever been.
Food that was supposed to be hot was hot and food that was me g to be cold was cold.
Shrimp wasn’t fishy or mushy & was so good and already peeled. Waiter was very attentive.

12/18/24 6 pm visit. This is strictly for the buffet and the casino.
We were new reward member players and had to get a card. It was a little time consuming.. There was a long line and about four or five girls working the desk. I think One was in training, And there were a few that didn’t really rush to get the crowd out. But they were friendly. Just need to step it up with the speed a little bit.
The buffet was excellent! Probably one of the best we’ve been to, and we’ve been all over the US. Lots of options and great southern cooking. We are from Louisiana and it is hard to find good southern food with flavor. Seafood bags were excellent, Steak was good, but there was a long wait for the steak because they’re made to order, The baked potato tasted good, but it was a little lukewarm and really should not be sat there for that long. Lots of dessert options. Very pleased. They also gave us two free cocktails with dinner purchase.
The server was very nice, he was prompt and attentive. The place was clean. The cashier was very nice. They even have an electronic bus boy. And everyone was working hard, not on their phones, not talking between each other, they were actually waiting on customers and working hard.
The casino overall was clean And had plenty slot options. We were disappointed at first because we were not winning anything, nothing! But later in the night, my husband and I both won a little money. The only negative I have is the restroom by the entrance when you first walk in was in disarray. There was no toilet paper and the tissue toilet covers were all over the floor and scattered because people needed to use those because there was no toilet paper. Other than that, everything was good we’re very happy that we stopped here. We are semi truck drivers and wanted to get out and enjoy the night and southland did not disappoint. We recommend and will come back if we can. I wish that these casinos would offer discount rates for truck drivers. They keep America moving.! Sometimes we like to get out and get a hotel room to sleep in a comfy bed & stretch out in a nice hot shower & have a good hot meal ! Please consider giving discounts for the truck drivers.

Southland Casino is a very clean and inviting atmosphere. They have plenty of machines and tables for you to choose from. They have several restaurants and a buffet that offers a huge variety of food from pizza to seafood to soulfood. The hotel offers large size rooms with updated amenities and comfortable beds. The only downfall, compared to others, is that you don't get free alcohol when gambling. However, there is a free soda fountain. On weekends, they usually have a live DJ or someone performing. The smoking section is a separate section in the casino, which doesn't affect the main casino. The parking is sufficient and handicap accessible. Overall, it's a great place to hang out with hopes of winning.

The hotel and casino are nice. They have security, metal detectors and drug dogs at the door so I assume you are safe but maybe they have had issues in the past. The parking is a little weird but there is ample parking. The hotel and casino share an entrance which is a little difficult if you are traveling and have many bags but ok. The gaming area is big and has lots of games but I noticed not much variety many games are repeats or different versions of the same games. The slots were tight and i noticed most of the "Grands" were low when compared to other casinos. Over-all a decent place to visit if passing through for a night or two.

Great place to hang out usually the bathrooms are good. This complaint is for the smoking area womens bathroom. I was going in to use the bathroom and the cleaning lady was coming out. So I knew the toilets would be good to go. Well when I entered a stall that had the toilet seat up believing that it was one she had just cleaned when I let the seat down it had pee all over it at first I thought the seats looked that way from wear. But I always bring wipes to wipe the seats down anyway and use the paper seat covers so when I wiped the seat all of what was on it came off. When i came out I told the lady who cleaned the bathroom what I saw and a very other inspiring words and she apologized and went back in I am assuming to actually clean the toilets. I am sending 2 pictures one before and after I cleaned the seat myself. I do believe after talking to her she understood people do pay attention more than she know and to just do the job I want to believe she got it.

Is Southland Closing?

I visited on 12/21/24 and couldn’t help but notice signs of what felt like an imminent closure. The staffing situation was concerning—there were very few servers on the floor, which made for a frustrating experience. All the self-serve refreshment stations were closed, leaving no convenient way to grab a drink. Instead, you had to flag down one of the only three servers on duty to get something, which added pressure to tip. While I don’t mind tipping, it defeats the purpose of having self-serve drink stations in the first place.

Additionally, there were no offers or free play available, which was disappointing. Had I known that beforehand, I likely would have gone to Biloxi, MS, instead. To make matters worse, it’s impossible to check offers online—it always says “none,” even though there was always something when you arrive. This was the first time I’ve ever been left without free play.

The Kitchens Buffet was another letdown. It was severely understaffed, and the one person managing the crab legs clearly didn’t want to be there and wait times for crab legs was around 15 mins. The eggs in the crab leg bags were like trying to eat a rubber bouncy ball. When I went to get soup, there were no bowls available. After asking about it, I was told there simply weren’t any. If that’s the case, why bother serving soup at all? The dessert bar was almost nonexistent, with no saucers for serving. When I asked about it, I was told they were out of saucers. Really? Normally this is our go to casino, we have never had a bad experience with the casino or the food but know I will think twice,

Southland, what is happening? This visit was such a disappointment.

Best visit ever. Every single employee I dealt with was polite, and helpful and all food and drink was great. From the hotel check in at 4 pm and check out this morn, sports bar and grill, The Grind, The kitchens, Ignite ....
