This was a nice spot to visit while exploring Ybor. We hopped on/off the TECO street car, so it was an easy walk. The chickens made it extra fun.

This piece of land is owned by the Cuban government but maintained through a non for profit to honour Cubas national heroe Jose Marti. It’s a historic landmark, with lots of history related to Cuba but little explanations in site. Still peaceful, with shade and breeeze, and worth a 5-10 minute visit or rest stop. No washroom. For that you need to go to the Tampas visitor centre a couple of block away

A Hidden Gem – José Martí Park in Tampa is a beautiful space and peaceful oasis right in the heart of Tampa. The park is well-maintained and offers a perfect spot for families to relax. It’s not very large, but it’s great for those looking to learn more about Tampa’s history, as the park honors the legacy of José Martí. Not to mention it’s officially owned by the people of Cuba, making it one of the only pieces of Cuban soil in the United States. Whether you’re visiting for a family outing or just a quiet moment, José Martí Park is a wonderful place to unwind.

It is very easy to access this park from the tram stop. The tram drops off opposite the park. It has an interesting history, and you can (technically) have one foot in Cuba and one in the US. It is small and can get crowded due to public interest. However, people spend a few minutes there and move on. I highly recommend adding this stop to your itinerary. Oh, and there are roosters and chickens everywhere in Ybor City, enjoy 😉

I officially went to Cuba without a passport. Plenty of sitting bench and roosters. The hen was attending their chicks. I can't help but wonder 🤔, if an international incident can happen within those gates, what would our government do? This is opposite to Guantanamo Bay, it's in Cuba, but owned by the US.

This park is very small but it has a fascinating history.
Parque Amigos de José Martí, located in Tampa, Florida, is a unique historical site with a complex status. The park is technically owned by the Republic of Cuba, as the land was donated to the Cuban government in 1956, before the Cuban Revolution and the rise of Fidel Castro. This makes it one of the few pieces of Cuban-owned property in the United States. The park contains soil from each of Cuba’s provinces and serves as a tribute to José Martí, a key figure in Cuba’s fight for independence from Spain.

Nice historic Park with lineage Roosters and their broods clucking around. Public services work very hard to keep it clean and inviting. There's many celebrations here at different times and days.
