The staff was warm and friendly. They agreed to come and pick up some furniture I’m donating, which is a nice service. The prices were the best I’ve seen in years. Great inventory. Will definitely be visiting anytime I’m in LP ❤️ This is also a nonprofit to help the elderly, which is dear to my heart.

I don’t know what’s happened to this great little store, but in the last year or so they seem to steadily think of themselves as “dealers”. Placing objects they deem as important in a glass case even though they may be cracked or broken with an antique store price tag. Employees overheard telling a customer how “valuable” they are….shameful someone has looked up things on eBay and priced them way above their value. Sorry, Nu Hope, not only have you lost your minds, but also my business and donations.

Posting to not agree with the last. NONE of the items we found in a half hour perusing the store were priced "like new". Most single items like mugs were 50 cents to $1. Jean dress $1.50. All clothes were half price yesterday. Well organized store with nice volunteer staff. Many small items in bins are loose with no prices that may be challenged by check out staff as they were with us but whether pennies or dollars this is a store to benefit others. Let's remember that when shopping you find a 34 dollar ink cartridge for a buck, or bath towels for a dollar, it benefits everyone who could not afford full price. Considering the type of store and items sold. I believe the staff here are doing a very difficult job well to be able to put out and then keep up with keeping everything neat. Although my opinion is that the store would benefit from a clean up/sort/price all the stuff thrown in bins. I am not sure it would actually sell more items. Part of the fun is digging through stuff to find one thing you need and coming up with something else you did not know you needed. Like a digital kitchen timer for $1.

Love our store. All of our money stays in Highlands County. Our mission is to keep the elderly out of nursing homes, make them independent by sending in caregivers to help with Meals and light housekeeping

This is a phenomenal, smaller thrift store. Over the years I have found incredible items ranging from home, apparel, and antiques; ranging from high quality items to lesser, more trendy items. It’s my go-to. I only have one complaint: pricing. While yes, the prices are fantastic and no other store locally can compete, the pricing is unpredictable and seems to be going up consistently. I went from shopping 2-3 days a week to now only stopping in every other week or so because I know I’ll leave now having spent more than I find items worth. The other day I bought two vases. One was considerably higher quality and yet it cost less than a smaller, less durable vase that someone had clearly painted over. In cases like this I wish NuHope would make a set price according to categories. The prices vary considerably from item to item, employee to employee. Another example? Shoes. I’m hard pressed to buy a pair of used shoes for $8-$10. The boutique rack is also questionable. I once bought an item of high value on the regular racks for $1 and then was charged $15 for a trendy item on the boutique rack that was valued for far less than the first item. It would be great if, again, there would be a set price. I do understand that there are some items that are of higher quality and should cost a bit more, but I have paid more money for items than what they are actually worth and I think the problem stems from employees pricing things with their differing perspectives. I’ve had an employee give me one price saying it would definitely be discounted due to poor function, come back later and have another employee tell me the price is higher and sold “as is.”

My complaint isn’t so much the money itself. I will pay good money for good items and I’m happy to give back. I simply feel there are kinks in the pricing that should be worked out before prices continue to climb and NuHope no longer competes with the likes of Goodwill.
