Had a great time at the Youth Deer Hunt in late January 2025. The staff was awesome and the park was wonderful. We were successful in the hunt and helped out the deer management for the park.
We will definitely be back to hike and fish. They also cater to those with horses, they have pens near the camp area for horses. They have trails for horses as well.

Unbeknownst to me until arriving last week, Nails Creek and Birch Creek are basically two separate state parks on the same lake under the name Lake Somerville State Park. They are connected by the water and several trails along the western portion of the park, but I found I really preferred Nails Creek today. The weather was perfect and the wildflowers were really showing off. We saw several ant trails where they were working in a line carrying leaves and sticks and what not downhill which I thought was really cool. I also collect a lot of souvenir memorabilia which is never shown in these reviews so I included pics of the selection

Lovely state park. Nice camping areas. Spacious day use area. Has well maintained boat ramp (don't boat so not sure how incline at boat ramp would be affected by boat size). Bathroom I was in was clean but looked to be in need/middle of repair job. Friendly ranger on staff at office. Very quiet for Sunday afternoon.

The most helpful check-in ranger I've encountered yet! She handed me a map with the route marked to my campsite, then mentioned she had a number of other sites available. I was super excited to trade in my close-quarters equestrian site and nab a more private and spacious spot on the water (site 42). Restrooms seemed brand new.

The lake was great- it felt huge to me. The water was warm!

Very quiet rv campsites on or near the lake. You are completely surrounded by nature with well dispersed campsites. Power and water available at most sites with a central dump station.

Visited in November 2023, and the lake was dried up at this unit. It was unexpected - I wish the website would have better information on the water levels.

Still a nice park though. Clean restrooms, a lovely picnic area with grills, and good trails.

Great fall camping, lake is quiet and good for kayaking. Good price, especially with Parks Pass. Corrals for horses. Extra parking. Lots of stars.
â€ĸ Dump Station
â€ĸ Restrooms / Showers - clean. The Bent Tree area has a portable trailer for the restrooms and showers. The main building is closed.
â€ĸ There are Munzees and Geocaches here
â€ĸ Lots of trails in the park and between this and the Birch Creek Unit
â€ĸ Great trails for equestrians
â€ĸ Enclosed Group shelter for events (no kitchen)
â€ĸ Family Fishing Pond
â€ĸ The open style pavilion doesn't appear to be open. Looks like it's is structurally unsound
