The staff here is amazing, they are so informative, and really know how to tell interesting stories.
My son was stuck there at the microscope for quite a while, looking at his the dead skin cells on his fingers and on the particles in the water from his own water bottle.

There are also 3 short movies about the ocean that are really awesome.

There is also a robotic submarine with a camera you can control, the kids loved it.

The museum is not large, but it is a lot of fun and can entertain for an hour or more if the kids get into the groove.

Fabulous place to visit! Exploration center is for all ages not just for kids and it's free. So much to learn and discover about the Monterey Bay Coast and Marine life. Staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful. I'd highly recommend going there for 1- 2hrs, watch movies go through the exhibits and learn interesting facts.

Such a wonderful place that took visionaries and ocean loving locals to bring education right next to our Santa Cruz hub down at the beach.

Perfect location filled with great exhibitions, programs, tour and field trips. It’s a wonderful adventure and fun for everyone 😎

Nice educational center that’s free to public. It primary focuses on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. It’s a great place for kids and adults that are interested in the marine sanctuary located across the street. Make sure to stop by and visit while you’re in Santa Cruz. They also have a nice little gift shop on the ground floor.

Loved visiting here back in 2019. The staff was so friendly and had lots of information. They enjoyed what they were doing and were happy to be at work. I came here with my husband to just walk around and do something new. We were celebrating our marriage anniversary in Santa Cruz and decided to just walk around and ended popping in here. Beautiful memories and a beautiful little sanctuary.

This place is pretty awesome! My daughters did the scuba dive thing for kids, and they did amazing with them and teaching them and keeping them entertained! Definitely worth the experience, a bit pricey for the food and quality, but everything else amazing

Bought a cap to support them and then watched the video that was playing in a loop. It was awesome! I wish my kids were with me (they were at the amusement park on the rides). I will definitely bring my kids here next time and get them to sit down without their phones and enjoy the place and the video presentation.
