This facility is a former YMCA. I have been a member for a year now. It has a new refreshed look. It is clean and looks nice.

The facility includes an exercise room, a fitness center and a large swimming pool with lap lanes and diving area.

All of the fitness center equipment is brand new and works very well. They have a variety of classes and programs available.

Staff is very friendly. There are lots of activities for families such as game nights, movie nights and parents night out. I am a single person so I don't need this but It is a great resource for the families in our community.

I would leave no stars for how horrible I was treated there. I'm ended up homeless a couple days back and went there to seek some help even if we're to take a shower for my wife and a four year old. As I asked the female receptionist this morning a male interrupted with the rudest of comments. Including finishing his sentence with God bless you. The ugliest thing you could do is say it's not a public facility and treat a person that is already done like trash. You need to be shut down. If that how this facility is going to treat people looking for help.

Just joined. It's a good place if you can't afford a regular pricy gym or workout facility.
The best part is they do have a pool so that would be nice for after working out.

Used to be a ymca which they ran place into the ground. Lakes Wales took the facility over for the benefit of its residents. They have revamped the facility new weights and equipment, expanded the programs for kids and adults, and other things in the planning. Hope the community supports what the city is doing. Great place good folks running the show.

I am so grateful the Town took over the YMCA and run this renamed as the Lake Wales Recreation Center. It is clean in appearance and in the smell test, which is a huge change from the neglect it had been suffering for many years. The employees like their job and are happy to see us.

The pool is now open all day!!!!! Woohoo! 🎉 Thank you LW family rec. Now I can actually swim here. So excited!🏊‍♀️
4 stars because it is a little expensive, 25$ sign up fee plus 40$ a month! Unfortunately Lake Wales residents are only worthy of a discount if they live in city limits which seems ridiculously unfair. Lake Wales residents live in Lake Wales don’t cha think 🤔.
