An old hotel that was built in 1879 and is now an historic area in Twin Lakes, CO. The historic site is accessed primarily by the Interlaken trail, a small section of the Colorado Trail, you will walk along the lakeshore with beautiful views. Kayaked over to check this place out. Loved the information boards telling about the history of this place. Loved being able to go inside one of the houses. There are more buildings there than you can see from across the lake. We'll worth the time to go explore.

This was a great hike! I loved that we were right along the lake the whole time. The trail is mostly flat, so we never felt like we had to push ourselves too hard. The resort area is really well preserved, and it was neat to imagine what it might have been like to stay there. I was really excited that they even have one of the buildings open to walk through.

Totally cool way to spend a day! We took a boat ride to the location this time but will definitely rent kayaks next time. The birds are incredible. I could have sat there all day. It’s fun to imagine what it must have been like to stay there back in the day.

This hike to the old Interlaken Resort was recommended to us by the workers at Twin Lakes Inn. It was our first hike in Colorado and it did not disappoint. It is hard not to take in the historical value and wonder of what this place used to represent. They have done a tremendous job of renovating a place that holds a special place in history. I particularly was impressed with the cleanliness of the area. Far too often we come across landmarks such as this and tourist do not understand the value of preservation. That was not the case here and strongly urge those travelling in the area, however long or short, to make the trek to witness and appreciate this timepiece.

It was really fun to have a different kind of destination. Fun history and perfect spot for lunch. It's a bit of a trek for those not used to the distance, especially with the altitude. We started at Willis Gulch. If you're up for it, it is worth it! The trail is easy to follow and well maintained.
