Absolutely loved our time at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park! From the moment we stepped into the shaded trails filled with massive, twisting banyan trees to spotting a wild green iguana soaking in the sun—this place felt like a hidden jungle in the middle of the city. The Beach Hammock Trail offered a peaceful 20-minute walk through Florida’s natural beauty and history, and the air was fresh with that earthy, coastal scent you only get near the ocean.

This park is the real Florida—lush, wild, and magical. Perfect for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking to escape the noise for a little while. Highly recommend taking your time here, and don’t forget your camera! We’ll definitely be back.

Our visit to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park was truly amazing and filled with memorable experiences. We boarded the Bayview Water Taxis at Stop 7 and enjoyed a scenic ride to Stop 8, where the park welcomed us for a fun-filled family picnic. The park’s natural beauty and variety of attractions made it a day to remember.

The children loved exploring the park, especially the reptile exhibit, which was both educational and entertaining. As we wandered, we spotted some friendly raccoons nearby, adding a touch of wildlife to our adventure. The walking trails were a highlight, offering a serene escape through nature and leading us to the beach, which brought even more excitement.

Tucked away along the trails, we discovered The Grove, a delightful spot where we could eat, drink, and play. It was the perfect place to relax and refuel before continuing our exploration. The combination of lush greenery, family activities, and a serene beach atmosphere made the experience truly special.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a hidden gem that offers something for everyone, and we can’t wait to return for another day of nature, fun, and relaxation!

Can’t say enough good things about this place. It is tranquil. It was diverse and what you could do. It was well set up. You can just walk right into nature. You can sit along the intercoastal. It had plenty of benches and picnic tables inbarbecues and Banyan trees. I will definitely come back here loved it.

Gorgeous state park. Several nature trails, throughout the park. Beautiful scenery. There are several volunteers that drive carts around the parking lots and give visitors rides. There's a really cute restaurant on site, called "The Grove". Friendly staff, food came out quickly and was very tasty.

This place is gorgeous! It has a meditation labyrinth, beautiful water canal where you can watch the sunset, beautiful trails that look like magical green tunnels of trees, great for picnics, barbecue, romantic walks, he has also a beautiful café on the side of the beach, there is an entrance from the beach side, which is free, and if you come in through the main entrance walking, it cost two dollars per person, five dollars per car. Totally worth it whether is for half an hour or hours.

Having a state park next to a beach is rare and a welcome treat in the middle of an urban area. Birch park offers excellent accommodations to walk their trails, bicycling, camping and beach going. A real gem in Fort Lauderdale.

Small park with direct access to Fort Lauderdale Beach. Canoe, paddle board, kayak and bike rentals. Trail through wooded area and a loop road with intercoastal views as well as a water taxi pickup and drop off area.
