Downtown (Old town) Eureka has a lot of history behind it and even though those days are long gone there's still items, and stories, to remind folks of how it used to be. There's more new age stores and businesses now but, there's still a few places that remember, display, and honor the days of old. A lot of homeless people walking around and asking for money now-a-days is why I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I still recommend checking it out. Late morning/early afternoon is best.

A nice mix of many nice shops. If you don't mind the homeless are for the most part good people falling on hard times. Still. Pleasant. Eclectic. Nice.

A wonderful day with family and friends! Visit our unique shops and restaurants. So diversified. Start with the best bagels around with a perfect cup of coffee. Walk around old town, check out the Clarke museum, then treat yourself to a delicious chocolate! Walk the boardwalk, sit and watch the boats go by, the sea gulls, seals and blue herons. It's now time for a great surprise...should you take a horse drawn buggy ride around old town or take a boat ride on the Madeket around Humboldt bay? Either way, enjoy!

It was so refreshing to see the old district preserved and be able to experience the older period architecture. This area has the period character and is pleasing to the eye.

The main street is unique in all of its music and art and food. It's sometimes windy and cloudy and homeless is prevalent.
