The Dolphin Research Center is a wonderful place to visit! You can watch and even swim with the dolphins, which is such a magical experience. What stood out most is how well they treat the animals—the dolphins are clearly happy and not forced to do anything they don’t want to. It’s heartwarming to see a facility that truly prioritizes the well-being of the animals. Highly recommend visiting!

We reserved a “dolphin experience” for our family (including one 6 year old). This includes admission. You are able to enter prior to your time if you’d like. They have a food truck, splash pad, and various presentations in different dolphin areas. Even without a specific presentation you can walk around and just observe the trainers interacting with the dolphins.

The dolphin encounter was pricey ($225 a person), however after the fact I think it was worth it. We were initially greeted by Katherine who was new to the research center but was friendly and enthusiastic about her job.

Our trainer was Noel. Noel was great and worked with the dolphins as if she was their mom (lol).

You enter the water and stand on a submerged platform. The platform was maybe 3 feet deep. (Keep in mind where we were there were some unfriendly fish that liked to nip at your feet…so wear water shoes if this doesn’t sound fun to you).

We got to touch the dolphins numerous times, interact with them, and even go for a ride holding onto their fins. We were able to ask questions and observe the dolphins from super close.

There was a professional photographer available who sold the photos after (not cheap). You can also bring your own camera as long as it floats, and is affixed to you.

This was a really cool experience! I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful way to relax and interact with dolphins, California sea lions, and tortoises. Fantastic way to spend a day seated next to the dolphin enclosures and watching the dolphins. Learn about the animals, watch some shows or swim with the dolphins. The staff was nice, informative and helpful.

I did the hour long dolphin experience, and it was amazing seeing the dolphins. There are 27 dolphins, if I remember correctly, many born in the research center while others were rescued. You can tell that the dolphins are happy and like the trainers, so as an animal lover, I love to see that. As for the experience, I wish there was more interaction with the dolphins. You spend more time waiting for the other people to take their turn than the actual experience. Other than that, they have a photographer there to catch the moments you get with the dolphins for purchase later as well as a gift shop. It was a clean place and it looked like the people who worked there wanted to be there so that made me happy. I would recommend visiting!

We did the family dolphin splash. The only thing I wish was done different was the photos. They have you go in water in groups for a group photo, but if you are not 1st, then others will be in the background of your photos. I also wish more photos were taken as the photographer was not there for the full activity. We saw a few of the shows, which was nice, and you can see that work is going on to improve the center. Gift shop also had some nice things. It is expensive to do many of the activities but with the number of Dolphins and other animals they have it is for them to keep providing care to them.

A highlight of our trip to the Keys! The dolphins were absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing to watch. Seeing the trainers working with the mothers and calves was such a treat. Lots of knowledgeable staff who love their job and informing others! Definitely recommend!

Loved every moment of the place. The 2 shows we watched were so entertaining and informative that display the personality and talents of the dolphins in residence. Beautifully maintained. You can tell the staff live the place and love what they do. We met the founder and loved his story which made us want to support the place more. They are doing good work here. Our hearts were full after visiting the DRC. I cannot recommend this place enough - it is amazing that they offer the experience as they do and also take care of the beautiful animals that are dolphins. The staff is so knowledgeable and we learned so much about dolphins! Worth every dollar! I would love to go back!
