It was a very difficult decision to move mom out of our home. Once the decision was made, we toured several facilities in the area; Atria Cranford became our #1 choice.
From the moment we walked in, we felt like we’d found the best new home for mom. Everyone was welcoming and kind. The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff are cheerful and energetic and seem to really enjoy their jobs. Working with the Sales Director, Michele, and Business Director, Samantha, was a delight. They answered all our questions and made appropriate arrangements for Mom’s arrival and placement. We are grateful to have mom in a secure place as her dementia progresses. We know she is safe and well cared for.

I went to visit my aunt at Atria in Cranford and was happy to see the residents with smiles on their faces and were busy doing various activities. The building was very clean and the staff were friendly and professional. The food looked delicious and the apartments were nice. There is a beautiful outdoor area that looks perfect to enjoy on a nice day. I would highly recommend Atria Cranford.

Why My Experience with Atria Changed: A Follow-Up Review

In my previous review of Atria, I shared positive feedback about my family's experience with the community. However, since then, circumstances have changed, and so has my opinion. After re-entering Atria in September, we faced new challenges that made this experience significantly more frustrating than the first.
When my parents returned to Atria, I found myself dealing with a completely different team, except for the primary nurse. This transition was not seamless. The process of re-enrolling my parents was unexpectedly cumbersome, adding stress to what was already an emotional time. The answers I needed, especially regarding costs, were unclear and inconsistent, which only complicated the situation.
One of the most significant hurdles was the cost. The pricing for two people was much higher than we had anticipated, and it was difficult to get a straight answer about the final bill. Despite being given an initial quote, the charges were inconsistent with the emailed quote I received, leaving me frustrated and unsure about where the extra costs came from.
Unfortunately, after less than two weeks, my parents decided to leave the community. They has issues with dementia and couldn’t live there peacefully. It was disheartening to see them struggle in a place we had once considered a good fit. The difference in staff and the challenges with communication only made this decision easier for us.
Given this recent experience, I’m now exploring other facilities.

BEWARE - Do Not Place Your Loved One In Their Care!
When I initially placed my mother at Atria, it was a completely different environment, and I did not worry about her well being.

Three years later, ALL of the administrators were replaced, several nurses and much of the staff left and were replaced by inexperienced, unskilled, apathetic, unfriendly personnel.

I visited my mother at least once a week in order to keep on top of things.

There were MANY problems with Atria pertaining to nursing staff, room cleanliness, laundry, theft of personal property, etc.

Because of Atria’s nurses' neglect, my mother was rushed to the hospital. She became seriously ill because of the nurses indifference in taking care of her condition Atria’s failure to properly care for my mother, led to a very difficult road to recovery.

I had spoken to the Directors involved, regarding this disgraceful situation, and they took NO responsibility for their inaction! I felt unheard and I was an annoyance. We were paying TOP dollar for poor care for my mother!!

When my mother was going to be released from rehab, I was informed that I had to remove my mother from Atria

Atria was my mother's home for four years. My mother felt comfortable at Atria even though the care was subpar because of a new staff, especially nursing. Due to Atria's harsh treatment of my mother, I was forced to find another place for my mother to live. My mother died three months later. She was forced out of her home💔

While our family was researching facilities, Michele was so great to work with. She was transparent with information, well versed in the assisted living/memory care industry, and so warm and comforting during this difficult process. Atria Cranford is a beautiful property. Great layout, nice grounds and well kept.

Atria has been my Mom's home for almost three years now. The staff is friendly, professional and dedicated. She recently had a stroke and went from ICU to acute to sub-acute care and desperately wanted to return home to Atria. At each level of rehab we worked with that end in mind, and the Atria Wellness Team supported our efforts to get her back in a familiar and comfortable environment where she could continue to rehabilitate. That's exactly what happened and she has made a miraculous recovery. Atria is able to provide for her new level of care, and she is growing in her ability to manager her ADLs. (Activities of Daily Living) Highly recommend the place for any loved one.

I have considered Atria Senior Living for my parents who are 81 and 82 years old. I found this facility to be the best fit for their needs. The apartments are quite spacious and just right for what I was looking for. I especially liked the variety of activities and socialization that is available at Atria. Everyone in the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. And the outdoor space is perfect for enjoying time outdoors when the weather permits. I recommend this facility for those who require a senior living arrangement.

My Dad is currently a resident of assisted living at Atria in Cranford. When he first arrived he had difficulty deciding if this was the right decision for him. After living here for two years in May, he has adjusted well. We can’t say enough about the entertainment that is provided as well as the staff. Barbara, Lena and Gary go above and beyond to make each day fun and entertaining for everyone. The nursing staff has been very helpful when we needed assistance in our Dads care!
