We take our kids shopping at the Marco Island Alvin’s Island every spring break so they can find something to remember the trip by. I’m not sure we’ll go back. My husband checked out with our oldest son first. He paid with a hundred dollar bill. The worker didn’t even put it in the register, wrapped up what they bought for a few minutes and handed them their purchase with no change. My husband said something so then he got his change. About ten minutes later, our other two kids were ready to check out. We used a hundred, and they tried to short me $50 on my change. When I said, woah whoa whoa, that’s not correct, suddenly the 50 appeared. The woman was very rude to me. I’ve never experienced such bad and dishonest service! On my receipt, the employee’s name is Sandra.

While I recognize that this business is a part of a widespread chain scattered across Florida's beach towns, my experience at this specific outlet was astonishingly substandard in terms of customer service, setting a new low for me. Despite the store's extensive inventory, my simple request for help in locating a specific shirt turned into an ordeal. Employees repeatedly directed me to a designated area without the desired item, showing a lack of attentiveness and unwillingness to assist beyond minimal effort. My attempts to solicit more direct assistance were met with apathy, as no staff member was willing to guide me to the product I sought.

This encounter highlighted a significant deficiency in customer service, a cornerstone for any retail establishment. It's understandable that beach stores attract a fair share of impulsive buyers, but my visit was driven by a specific need, which was utterly disregarded. The indifference displayed by the staff not only soured my shopping experience but also reflected poorly on the store's commitment to customer satisfaction.

I cannot stress enough how such an experience can deter patrons from revisiting. Good customer service is crucial, and its absence at this location is a glaring flaw that cannot be overlooked. My dissatisfaction extends beyond mere disappointment; it was an experience that fell dramatically short of any acceptable standard. Had there been an option to award zero stars, it would be too generous a rating for the level of service received.

This ordeal has led me to reconsider my patronage of not only this particular store but the entire Alvin's Island chain. The thought of enduring a similar experience elsewhere within the chain is off-putting, to say the least. This incident has not only deterred me from revisiting this location but has also significantly diminished my interest in the brand as a whole.

I had warned my wife that the reviews of this particular store were terrible. We braced for the worst and in fact we're more than pleasantly surprised with the best. We did not experience apathetic staff, inappropriate music, or a disheveled store. In fact, the environment was clean and well organized, and the staff were helpful. Clearly, management made changes for the best!

Lot of great gift ideas. Not funny putting Voodoo trinkets up since millions of people practice voodoo and some 25% of them practice real animal sacrifices. Taffy assortment is excellent but a bit pricey. The store was organized and staff friendly

This location does NOT accept MICA, MILITARY OR VETERAN OR HOTEL DISCOUNTS. The checkout guy told me to look at the sign. I will not give them money for such awful discrimination.

We tried to go to both Marco island locations. Both locations are doing inventory until Wednesday. Everything is wrapped and counted so the only merchandise available to purchase is t shirts and sweatshirts. They will be doing inventory until Wednesday so don't waste your time.

Love this place, but they all seem to be using some kind of air freshener that makes the air smell of perfume. My wife is sensitive to fragrance and chemicals, which can activate respiratory arrest, so we can not stay in the store long. Otherwise, it's an awesome selection of great stuff!

I’d give it a zero if I could. I read a review that was spot on. The customer service in this store is terrible. If you ask a question you get met with disrespect. I thought I was in the “Soup Nazi” episode on Seinfeld. I was following the directions on the sign and when I asked an employee, she didn’t want anything to do with me. I asked multiple times and she finally just raised her voice and thru her arms in the air to which I replied, “Thanks you for your outstanding service!” I left the store and will never go back!
