I cannot believe you paddled three students for peacefully exercising their First Amendments right to advocate for safe schools. These children walked out of your school to practice nonviolence for 17 minutes and you responded by hitting them.
They are your future leaders. It staggers me that you would treat them in this type of barbaric manner. Any school leader worth his/her salt would have stood up and called off this grotesque punishment immediately. You owe your students a formal apology.

I think the parents that wrote these reviews are not taking into consideration what exactly last week meant for themselves, their students and their community, so if I might add a comment here:

Resolve. Students from this program must have known that there would be consequences for the actions they were about to take. Were they justified? Some would say yes, others apparently think it's worth bashing the school to say no. But let's be real: what form of protest does not come with consequences? If there were no ramifications, it is really a protest? Why would you take the dignity of these students away from their brave deed and try to slap an administrator over the head with it?

The truth is, this school and its faculty, with the watchful help of loving and caring parents, has created a program where students have the courage to take a stand for what they believe in, regardless of the consequences. They should all be commended for their efforts, and stay strong; life isn't going to be easy, but these kids are getting the preparation they need to be ready for it.

Someone wrote that the school shouldn't be bashed, but it is the administrators that should be for deciding to beat these students. This Assistant Principal could still have complied with the antiquated school districts policies without doing this. The beatings of 3 people was insane and it backfired on this school district, not very smart. Why don't they STOP teaching people that it is ok to hit others when it is not, and teach them exactly what would happen to them if they picked up a two foot wood board and assaulted somebody twice with it in the real world. That's just it sadly, Greenbrier administrators aren't living in the real world because they would be going to jail if they did this to anyone else. The Superintendent right on down to the Assistant Principal that hit these high school young people and his accomplice all need to be held accountable for their over the top violence.

Ms Saige Friaha reposted her review--Here is mine. Physical beatings of students have been going on a long time at this school (and others in the district). The Assistant Principals brazenly OFFER high school age students paddling along with ISS, and if the unsuspecting student says ok to the being hit, then the parents are contacted and also OFFERED the violence, even if the parent has signed against these beatings. What is going on is a game similar to bait and switch and a trade and exchange of one punishment for the other while making a CONTRACT OF VIOLENCE with a minor. Pathetic and easy to see through this abuse of young people.Shame on the administration of this school and the people that permit this.

In Europe we abandoned corporal punishments at school decades ago, it was useless and a bit creepy on already mature teen students. This is just one of the thousands schools that beat the students in the 19 US states where this is allowed, I believe that the paddler Brett Meek and the withness Bryan Swimn that assist to paddling of butts of young students, they didn't realize how the image this schools could be affected.

We teach our children about freedom of speech, but then when they try to exercise it the same as other children are doing, and famous men and women have done before them, you punish them. It is a poor, poor thing you do!!!
